Upper & Lower Back Pain

Back pain can severely limit normal activities of daily living, making it hard to do simple things, such as bathing, getting dressed, going to the bathroom, and cooking a meal. Even mild back pain needs to be treated as soon as it begins to prevent progression to something bigger.

Back pain can come from one or more of the three sections of the spine in that area – the neck or cervical spine, the upper or thoracic spine, or the lower or lumbar spine.

  • Cervical: Supports the head and neck and allows for motion.

  • Thoracic: Supports the entire body and has the most stability. The rib cage is attached to the thoracic spine.

  • Lumbar: Provides the strength for lifting.

The most common reasons for back (and neck) pain are weak muscles and poor posture. Upper back injuries are likely the result of inadequate muscle support. Chiropractic care incorporates strengthening exercises with spinal adjustments to relieve pain and improve posture. This combination treatment helps with sports injuries or accidents that cause vertebrae to slip out of place.

A series of office visits and a home exercise program will provide healing and pain relief for most back pain. Call 951-808-8320 for a back pain assessment.
